DeRucci Tennis Competition

A Winning Event for All Involved

Over the weekend of 18 - 19 January 2020, the inaugural DeRUCCI Cup Tennis Championship was held at the Boroondara Tennis Centre in Balwyn North, and what an event it turned out to be!

With over 100 registered competitors, some of whom rank in the World Tennis Rankings, 37 matches were held over the weekend in what could only be described as beautiful summer conditions until the weather finally shifted at the end of play with the heavens pouring down a deluge including hail.

Held by international bedding manufacturer, DeRUCCI, the carnival style event included food and drink for all, tennis lessons for both kids and adults, Lucky Draw prizes including a number of Australian Open Finals tickets, and of course – extremely competitive tennis matches. A multicultural event, the Mayor of the City of Boroondara, Counsellor Cynthia Watson, as well as several other ambassadors from various cultural institutions came in support of the event, giving speeches at both the opening and closing ceremonies.

DeRUCCI in Straight Sets

DeRUCCI General Manager Melbourne, Jason Zhou, was extremely pleased with the event’s outcome, bar the sudden change of weather at the end of the tournament. He stated that DeRUCCI’s dedication to promoting a healthy sleep culture, together with regular exercise and a good diet was exemplified by the quality of the entrants who played their hearts out in the above 30-degree Celsius temperatures over the weekend. Also notable is that DeRUCCI is proud to be the official bedding provider for the Australian Open, which has just begun!
